Taylor Swift is offering assistance to those in need.
This follows destructive storms that swept through several counties in the region, resulting in a death toll of at least six, including two children. WZTV in Nashville reported 13 tornadoes touching down in Tennessee on Saturday, as indicated by the Storm Prediction Center.
Hal Cato, the CEO of the community foundation, verified Swift’s donation, as reported by The Tennessean. The contributions aid residents affected by the natural disaster by providing financial assistance, food, temporary housing, debris clean-up, and support for animal sheltering.
Beyond the numerous fatalities, CNN disclosed that more than 50 individuals sustained injuries, buildings suffered structural damage, and power outages have impacted residents in the vicinity.
“This is devastating news and our hearts are broken for the families of those who lost loved ones,” Clarksville Mayor Joe Pitts expressed in a statement shared on Facebook. “The City stands ready to help them in their time of grief.”
In March 2020, Swift contributed $1 million to the Middle Tennessee Emergency Response Fund following deadly tornadoes that once again devastated the state she considers home, despite being a Pennsylvania native.
“Nashville is my home and the fact that so many people have lost their homes and so much more in Middle Tennessee is devastating to me,” expressed the “Lover” singer on her Instagram Story at that time.
She also provided a link to the donation site for those who were interested in making similar contributions.
Recently, the pop star has been making financial contributions throughout her Eras Tour.
In June, during a two-night performance at Detroit’s Ford Field, the artist behind “Blank Space” made a donation to Gleaners Community Food Bank of Southeastern Michigan.
After conveying Swift’s message, “No matter what happens in life, be good to people,” the food bank appended one of their own.
“These words ring true today with Taylor’s surprise donation to Gleaners during her #TSTheErasTour stop in #Detroit,” the social media post continued. “Thank you for making an impact & empowering kids and families with nutritious food!”
“Taylor Swift’s support of food banks across the country comes at such a critical time for so many emergency food providers — when resources are down, and need is up,” shared Kristin Sokul, a representative for Gleaners, with the Detroit Free Press at that time.
Continuing to commend her “generosity,” Sokul remarked, “The space in her heart will empower households across Southeast Michigan to live happier, healthier lives and elevate the important issue of food security so others who have the ability to help can be inspired by her example. The entire Gleaners team is so grateful for this incredible gift.”
