Actor Warwick Davis has confessed that he feels embarrassed when people inquire about the status of the Willow series on Disney+.
Debuting on Disney+ in the previous year, Willow acted as a follow-up to the 1988 movie of the same name. However, in March this year, there were reports that the series had been axed after just one season. A couple of months later, the entire first season was removed from Disney+, leaving viewers without a legitimate means to watch the episodes. Speaking to X, Warwick Davis, who portrayed the main character in both the original film and the Willow sequel series, voiced his disappointment regarding the unavailability of the show.
I meet lovely people on a daily basis who are fans of #Willow, who are the reason the @DisneyPlus Series was made. Please tell me @WaltDisneyCo, what do I say to these subscribers when they ask why they can’t watch the series any more? #embarrassing pic.twitter.com/tUu9gstkbS

With the hashtag #embarrassing and posting the series’ key art, Davis conveyed in the X post, “I meet lovely people on a daily basis who are fans of Willow, who are the reason the [Disney+] Series was made. Please tell me [Disney], what do I say to these subscribers when they ask why they can’t watch the series any more?“
Willow Was Purged From Disney+
Willow was among several shows removed from Disney+ simultaneously, a result of the streaming service’s cost-cutting measures. Series writer John Bickerstaff criticized this decision at the time, calling the removal “absolutely cruel,” since the show hadn’t even had six months to establish itself on the streaming platform. Meanwhile, the show’s creator and co-writer Jon Kasdan maintained a hopeful outlook, suggesting that the series might still get a second season, despite the reported cancellation and the removal of Season 1.
“I’ve been quiet on this news that Willow is leaving Disney+ ’cause… I’m kinda into it. I grew up at a time when Disney movies were periodically re-released and not available to own, and it made them… more special,” Kasdan said in a now-deleted thread on X (formerly Twitter). “I worry about many things but NONE of them are that Willow will never be available again, either on [Disney+] or perhaps… someplace else, & ya never know where that could lead… stranger things have happened. So grateful for all the love and enthusiasm; it’s truly what keeps these worlds alive.”
The series follows Willow Ufgood, portrayed by Warwick Davis, as he leads a group of six aspiring heroes on a mission to rescue the world from malevolent forces. The show also featured actors such as Ellie Bamber, Ruby Cruz, Erin Kellyman, Tony Revolori, Amar Chadha-Patel, and Dempsey Bryk.
Currently, the Willow series cannot be streamed on any platform.
